Proof is bringing together agricultural practitioners to help shape its founding UK arable Evidence Engineer cohort.

Proof is pre-launch. Register your interest in the founding cohort and help shape the tools and programme opportunities being developed.

Illustrative questions. Proof is pre-launch and no programme is live.

Your expertise has value beyond your existing client base.

Manufacturers and research organisations need to understand what happens in real farming conditions.

You bring the practical knowledge those questions require: understanding the field, recognising relevant observations and knowing which details need to be recorded.

Proof is being built to connect that expertise with funded evidence programmes, and to give you the professional tools to deliver the work.

Does the later application timing hold up on heavy clay in a wet spring?

NeedsSomebody in the field who knows what to record
Understanding the fieldWhich parts of which fields make the comparison fair, and which do not: soil, drainage, previous cropping and what the season actually did.
Recognising relevant observationsWhat matters at the moment it happens, and what a photograph taken a fortnight later can no longer show.
Knowing which details need recordingGrowth stage, product, rate, water volume, nozzle and conditions at application, plus the details a reviewer will ask for months afterwards.

Nobody can answer this from an office. It needs somebody who was there.

What would you actually do?

Evidence Engineering builds on practical agricultural work.

A programme might ask you to document how a product was used, record the conditions surrounding an operation or collect measurements under an agreed protocol.

Your role would depend on your experience and the programme requirements.

1

Understand the question.

Establish what the programme needs to learn, what evidence is required and which activities you are responsible for.

2

Plan the recording work.

Work with the programme team and participating farms to agree visits, observations, measurements and supporting information.

3

Capture what happens.

Record field conditions, observations, decisions and operations. Attach relevant photographs, files and notes with enough context for someone else to understand them later.

4

Follow the evidence through the season.

Add measurements and outcomes at the agreed stages. Document changes to the plan and make missing information visible.

5

Prepare the record for review.

Check completeness, organise supporting evidence and respond to questions within your professional scope.

6

Preserve what was learned.

Maintain the record as corrections and further information are added, so the work remains useful beyond the final visit.

The scope is agreed, not assumed. You would know what you are responsible for before the first visit.

Free access to Proof Pro.

Evidence Engineers will receive free access to Proof Pro as it becomes available.

The professional workspace is being developed to help you organise evidence, work across authorised farm records and build a useful history of your contribution.

Keep your evidence work in one place.Bring field observations, decisions, operations, measurements and outcomes into structured records. Connect each entry to the relevant farm, field, season and programme.
Put the supporting files beside the record.Organise photographs, field notes, trial documents, machine files and laboratory results alongside the work they support. Keep their source and date visible.
Find relevant work faster.Search the records you are authorised to access by crop, soil, rotation, region, season and other recorded conditions. Return to relevant observations and outcomes when a new question arises.
Compare with the context intact.Explore eligible records across fields and seasons. Examine the differences in conditions, methods and measurements that affect whether a comparison is useful.
See what needs attention.Use programme views to identify missing information, outstanding measurements and records ready for review. Keep track of the next contribution needed as work progresses.
Work with farms and professional teams.Coordinate contributions from farm staff, advisers and research partners. Keep responsibilities and permissions clear as different people add their part of the evidence.
Prepare clearer reports.Bring relevant records and supporting evidence together for review, reporting and permitted export. Preserve the link between a summary and the information behind it.
Build a lasting professional history.Keep a record of the evidence work you have contributed to. Where permission allows, reference that work when discussing your experience with prospective customers and programme partners.

Earn through funded evidence programmes.

Proof is developing a route for professionals to participate in paid evidence work commissioned by manufacturers and other organisations.

Opportunities could include field recording, programme coordination, measurement and evidence preparation, matched to your experience and availability.

The scope, responsibilities, fees and payment terms would be agreed before work begins.

Bring new opportunities to the farms you work with.

Farms contribute land, time, operational knowledge and practical work.

Agreed in advanceWhere a programme includes paid farm participation, activities and compensation would be agreed before the work starts.
Paid for the contributionPayments would reflect the agreed contribution, whatever the findings show.
The farm stays in controlThe farm retains control of its private records and decides which defined uses to authorise.

A farm is paid for the work it does, not for the answer it produces.

Help shape a developing professional discipline.

Founding participants will have the opportunity to help shape recording workflows, programme guidance and the tools inside Proof Pro.

Recording workflowsThe order the work is actually done in, and what a practitioner should be asked for at each point in a season.
Programme guidanceWhat a programme should specify before anyone goes to a field, and what it should never leave to interpretation.
The tools inside Proof ProWhich views, fields and shortcuts earn their place in a workspace used in a vehicle, in a field, at the end of a long day.
Proof Certified Evidence EngineerA planned professional status, built around demonstrated competence within a defined scope. In development
Proof plans to develop the status around demonstrated competence rather than attendance, and never as a score.
The scope would say what a person has shown they can do, and where.
The assessment approach is being developed with professional practice in mind.
